Single Phase Cut Cores
General
Cut Cores are ideal for transformer design especially to engineers who require one to several thousand transformers in shapes that are unavailable in standard lamination sizes. Cut Cores are ideally suited where weight or dimensional requirements are critical and have to be reduced.

The cores are wound from Grain Oriented Silicon Steel Strips and are annealed in a furnace under inert atmosphere. The impregnation is done in vacuum impregnating plant; the fine polishing process of the cut surface ensures very good performance of the cores, having low core loss and high saturation.

ADVANTAGES OF Cut Cores

Magnetic components designed with Exin cut cores offer the following advantages:

  • Reduced core losses.
  • Higher permeability than laminations. (Approximately 30% more flux for the same magnetizing force as compared to laminations)
  • Rapid assembly.
  • Better regulation.
  • Easily adjustable air-gap.
  • Improved space factor.
  • Reduces Storage space and handling cost

We also manufacture 'non standard' cores to customers' specifications.
However in order to get shorter delivery time and to avoid development cost you can find Exin standard widths & Exin Standard mandrels.
Applications of Cut Cores
Power transformer, current transformer, instrument transformer, inductor, chokes, ballast, voltage stabilizer and regulator, welding transformer, special transformer inductors, transducers, variable-ratio transformers, insulation transformers, pulse transformers, AC-DC chokes, high frequency rectifiers and special transformers etc

Cut Cores are ideally suited where weight or dimensional requirements are critical and have to be reduced.
Packaging
Each pair of C-Core loop shall be packed that adequate protection is given to the cut faces to prevent mechanical damage.

The type of packaging and labeling is chosen according to the transport medium, the final destination and the client specific requirement
Assembly Procedure for Cut Cores
To keep the magnetizing current to a minimum level it is suggested that:
  1. Cut faces of the core should not be damaged during handling and assembly
  2. Avoid mismatching, and assemble the two core halves with marking on the same side
  3. Cut faces of the core halves are thoroughly clean
  4. No foreign material is trapped between the cut faces of the core during assembly

Banding Arrangement for Cut Cores

Cores are assembled around the bobbins by means of a high tensile steel band the ends secured by soldering in a special clip.
